Mooney Kelly receives both ISO 9001 and 14001 certifications
Cost consultants and project managers Mooney Kelly are delighted to announce their entry into a very exclusive club indeed: having just been accredited with industry standard quality management certificates ISO 9001 and ISO 14001, Mooney Kelly joins a group of less than 1% of all British companies, whose processes and environmental policies have been tried and tested and found to be of a high enough standard and quality to be awarded both of these internationally-recognised accreditations.
“We are absolutely delighted to have received both the ISO 9001 and the ISO 14001 certifications", commented Mooney Kelly partner Noel Kelly. ”We believe these accreditations formalise the systems we have had in place for some time. They offer an additional level of confidence to our clients and demonstrate our ability to respond to change.”

Mooney Kelly announces strategic alliance with sustainable energy specialists NIRAS
Mooney Kelly and NIRAS A/S* have come together in a formal strategic alliance to offer our clients in the UK and Ireland low carbon and renewable energy consultancy services. NIRAS A/S* is a pioneer in the fields of both traditional and renewable sources of energy. With over 50 years engineering consultancy experience globally, NIRAS A/S* has developed leading expertise in several areas, including biogas, biofuels and biomass, solar energy, onshore and offshore wind turbine parks and thermal energy storage, as well as district heating/cooling and CHP. The company is also a market leader in CO2 reduction and carbon credits.
Mooney Kelly has 25 years of experience as construction economists, cost consultants and supply chain management specialists. Mooney Kelly’s Sustainable Energy Department currently provides commercial support, supply chain management and regulatory advice to some of the UK’s major utilities and other blue chip clients, assisting them to develop low carbon and renewable energy projects nationwide. We have a wealth of experience, access to up-to-date research and technologies and are able to offer regulatory and energy efficiency advice and expertise in developing and refining commercial propositions.
Mooney Kelly is currently involved unilaterally in seven projects in the low-carbon sector, ranging from CHP stations to tri-generation schemes and electricity networks, working with both electricity companies and major property developers.
We therefore believe there is a great synergistic fit with our new colleagues from NIRAS. Together we can offer clients both the commercial and technical vision and the long-term strategies to fulfil all their low carbon and renewable energy requirements and aspirations.
The new joint undertaking will operate from the offices of Mooney Kelly in Hammersmith, London.
We are already involved together in:
- Bidding for an energy research project for PGE in Poland.
- Bidding through a consortium of Mooney Kelly, NIRAS A/S and EDF Energy for services to the Energy Technology Institute
- Bidding for strategic consultancy services to the Carbon Trust

Spring 2009
Exciting times at MOONEY KELLY
Abroad
- In Poland, we have been shortlisted to provide Employer Representative Services to local authorities on EU funded projects.
- Also in Poland we are in discussion with publicly owned utility companies to provide commercial and contractual advice on the expansion and development of their asset base.
At Home
- Mooney Kelly are providing EDF energy with Commercial Management Services on their procurement strategy to build, own, finance and operate (DBFO) low carbon energy stations for various medium to large commercial and residential London developments. These take the form of sustainable, green, renewable energy plants that achieve preset carbon targets.
We provide up front cost planning and commercial advice, which feeds into complex financial life cycle models.
- We are involved in discussions with a waste disposal company with a view to providing commercial management, supply chain management and procurement strategy advice on waste management disposal solutions for private and public companies in the UK. These projects often involve converting the end waste product into energy (electricity).
The projects may involve finding a suitable site, building and fitting out a plant and possibly operating that plant over a over a protracted period of time.
- We have recently provided commercial management and dispute resolution advice to a large civils contractor who is involved in the design, supply and construction of roads and bridges on the 2012 Olympic site in Stratford London.
- We are currently in discussions with a multinational construction company about providing commercial management services to them on a large project, which involves major works to existing underground stations in London to ensure that access to platforms complies with all the requirements of DDA.
